Pennsylvania, School of Social Policy and Practice, working towards her Doctorate Degree in
Clinical Social Work (DSW) continuing to specialize in evidenced-based mental health
treatment. The DSW program focuses on contemporary clinical theory and research
culminating in a dissertation. The focus of this thesis is character strengths as protective factors in adolescents with non-suicidal self-injury. Current education for Mrs. Jockin
includes a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Allegheny College (1988) and a Masters Degree
in Clinical Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh (1992) specializing in mental health

Mrs. Jockin has worked at Behavioral Healthcare of Fredericksburg for over twenty years
treating clients with affective disorders, behavioral problems, relationship conflicts, and
adjustment disorders related to major life events. Areas of focus include trauma, grief,
parenting, identity formation, marital discord, depression, anxiety, and PTSD. The primary
modalities Mrs. Jockin utilizes are client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and
eclectic. Psychoeducation, understanding the nature of the mental illness which include both
biological and environmental factors, is also instituted. Social Work ethical standards are
adhered to by embracing principles of self-determination, dignity, and worth of every client in a
nonjudgmental atmosphere. Client-centered focus is a guiding principle as therapeutic goals are
tailored to each client’s personal needs. Mrs. Jockin also provides Christian counseling if
requested while maintaining high personal standards of respect for values and cultural
differences that may present between the client and therapist.
